3 Simple Ways to Maintain Your Health

Described as the Vedic Science of Life, Ayurveda is a five thousand year old healing tradition originating in India. It uses yoga, diet, and herbal formulas to bring wellness to an individual’s entire well-being. While it can assist in bringing us back to health from sickness or other ailments, its primary job is teaching us how to maintain our overall health.

Try these 3 simple rituals to start maintaining your own health!

Wake up before 6am

Ayurveda believes that the 3 doshas of Ayurvda are all dominant during certain parts of our day. Vata, which is moving energy, is dominant between 2am and 6am. Kapha, which is grounding energy, is dominant between 6am and 10am. This means, waking up before 6am (assuming you didn’t go to bed at 1 or 2pm) should give us a boost of energy and allow us to wake up without feeling groggy.

Tongue scrape.

This simple task removes accumulated toxins from digestive track (ama) – these toxins would otherwise be absorbed by your body. It also activates saliva, which aids in digestion or keeping your internal fire (agni) burning. 

Drink warm water with lemon.

This simple, yet magical drink, flushes out toxins (ama) built up in the digestive track and stimulates your digestion and metabolism (agni). Lemons also have strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune- boosting properties, making your body ready to take on the day.
